Aged Garlic Extract (AGE)
Also known as: Kyolic AGE · S-allylcysteine · Allicin (raw garlic)
Aged (odourless) garlic extract is more bioavailable and better tolerated than raw garlic. Reduces blood pressure, inhibits platelet aggregation, and lowers LDL — three independent cardiovascular benefits.

What Is Aged Garlic Extract (AGE)?
Aged garlic extract is produced by prolonged ageing of raw garlic in dilute ethanol, converting unstable allicin into stable, bioavailable water-soluble organo-sulphur compounds (principally S-allylcysteine, S-allylmercaptocysteine). This process eliminates the odour while preserving and enhancing bioactivity.
How It Works: The Science
S-allylcysteine activates eNOS (increasing NO, vasodilating arteries and reducing blood pressure), inhibits platelet aggregation by blocking thromboxane A2 synthesis, reduces HMG-CoA reductase activity (lowering LDL), and reduces homocysteine via the methylation cycle (S-allylcysteine is a sulphur donor). It also has antioxidant and NK cell-activating properties.
Primary Mechanism
S-allylcysteine platelet inhibition, eNOS activation, homocysteine reduction

Dosage Guide
Effective Dose
600–1200mg / day
600–1200mg/day standardised Kyolic AGE (aged 20 months). Can be split into two doses. Odourless — much better tolerated than raw garlic supplements.
Safety Profile & Side Effects
Mild anticoagulant effect — caution with blood thinners (warfarin, aspirin, clopidogrel). GI effects minimal vs raw garlic. Generally very well tolerated.
Who Should (and Shouldn't) Take It
Those with elevated cardiovascular risk (hypertension, high LDL, platelet aggregation concerns), as adjunct to lifestyle modification. Also useful for immune support alongside other cardiovascular benefits.
