I bought my first tub of ON Gold Standard Whey in May 2020 — Amazon, Subscribe & Save, Double Rich Chocolate. I was starting my pharmacy program. I had no idea I'd still be buying it six years later. But here's what six years and a Pharm.B taught me: in the tested-athlete category, the dual Informed Sport + NSF Certified for Sport stack is genuinely difficult to replicate at this price. NSF adds annual facility auditing on top of Informed Sport's per-batch banned substance testing — most competitors carry one or the other, not both.

Where ON has lost ground to newer brands: they still won't disclose the WPI:WPC blend ratio. Transparent Labs does. Dymatize ISO100 is pure isolate. ON lists "Whey Protein Isolate, Whey Protein Concentrate, Whey Peptides" in descending order of weight, but won't tell you the split. You can estimate 60–70% WPI from the protein efficiency math, but you shouldn't have to. That's the one transparency gap keeping this score below 9.0.
