What Is Peak ATP (Adenosine 5′-Triphosphate)?
Oral ATP is not taken up directly into cells (gastrointestinal degradation prevents this), but acts via extracellular purinergic (P2) receptors in blood vessel walls and muscle, triggering vasodilation and increased blood flow. The Peak ATP brand has funded several human trials showing performance benefits.
How It Works: The Science
Extracellular ATP activates P2X and P2Y purinergic receptors, stimulating endothelial NO release (vasodilation) and signalling to motor neurons. Oral ATP survives degradation to some extent via enteric absorption and may also influence gut-to-brain signalling pathways.
Primary Mechanism
Extracellular purinergic receptor signalling, vasodilation

Dosage Guide
Effective Dose
400mg / day
400mg/day as DISODIUM ATP, 30 minutes before exercise. Research is funded predominantly by the manufacturer — independent replication is limited.
Safety Profile & Side Effects
Tolerated well in published trials. No serious adverse effects. Note: most research is industry-funded.
Who Should (and Shouldn't) Take It
Advanced athletes exploring emerging performance aids. Reasonable addition to pre-workout if cost is not a barrier and proven supplements are already in place.
