What Is Panax Ginseng (Korean Ginseng)?
Panax ginseng has the longest documented use of any adaptogen — over 2000 years in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Modern research identifies over 150 ginsenosides (triterpenoid saponins) as its primary actives. Korean red ginseng (steamed and dried root) has a different ginsenoside profile and stronger evidence than white ginseng.
How It Works: The Science
Ginsenosides interact with glucocorticoid receptors, sex hormone receptors, and various ion channels. Rg1 ginsenosides activate eNOS (vasodilation, erectile function), while Rb1 ginsenosides have GABA-like CNS effects (calming focus). Panaxosides modulate immune function via NK cell and macrophage activation.

Ginsenoside-mediated HPA and immune modulation, NO upregulation
